Dr. Allen Deutsch

Shoulder Injuries –
Painful and Frustrating

Shoulder injuries can produce debilitating pain that inhibits overhead and lateral arm movement. Those accustomed to an active lifestyle – participating in sports and other movement-oriented hobbies – may find themselves forced to sit on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury or other shoulder joint disorder. Active people, forced to abstain from their favorite sports and hobbies, can become intensely frustrated and even depressed.

Dr. Allen Deutsch, a board-certified Orthopedic surgeon at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, offers new techniques in rotator cuff repair, stabilization of dislocated shoulders and strengthening post-operative shoulder repair. Dr. Deutsch pioneered new arthroscopic surgery techniques in 2004, completed clinical trials studying new techniques designed to strengthen shoulder repair after surgery in 2006 and presented favorable results of a Level-1 Clinical Study for Augmenting Rotator Cuff Repair at an Arthroscopy Association of North America meeting in 2010.

Shoulder Surgery – New Techniques Offers Quicker Recovery

The new techniques employed by Dr. Deutsch allow most patients to recover faster with less post-operative pain than ever before. His new post-operative therapies can strengthen the repair and may hasten patients’ return to daily activities and recreational or professional sports. The new post-operative techniques involve the use of an ultrasound device to monitor the recovery progress. Dr. Deutsch carefully reviews the progress and adjusts patients’ physical rehabilitation regimes accordingly.

Who Should Consult With a Shoulder Specialist?

People who have stopped enjoying active sports and hobbies due to chronic shoulder pain, those with difficulty lifting their arms laterally or overhead, and those suffering from a nagging shoulder injury that recedes and returns should consult with an Orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder repair. Additionally, those suffering from shoulder pain for several days or weeks that is not relieved by over-the-counter-medications should arrange to visit with a specialist.

Dedicated, Compassionate Care

Dr. Allen Deutsch takes time with his patients to help ensure they thoroughly understand their particular Orthopedic condition as well as the various treatment options available to them. He specializes in Orthopedic injuries and disorders, shoulder repair and sports medicine. As a pioneering, dedicated surgeon, he has the quality education and hands-on experience to treat patients with many types of Orthopedic care needs. Dr. Deutsch practices at the Kelsey-Seybold Main Campus located on W. Holcombe Boulevard near the Texas Medical Center and at the Spring Medical and Diagnostic Center, just off FM 1960, one-half mile west of Kuykendahl Road. Both Houston, Texas locations offer onsite laboratory, X-ray and other diagnostic services.
